Just checking in. We are trying to get all sorts of things done to improve our house and land so that it is more appealing as so far there has been little to no interest. We knew some things needed doing and so priced the place accordingly. Now we are trying to do those things just to make it more appealing. I don't think it will get us a better price and it is costing us a lot to do them, both financially and emotionally. Not to mention the tole on our aged bodies lol.
Last weekend was Memorial Day, whilst shopping I found the closest thing to English cooking apples. They were giant Granny Smiths. So I bought 3 and made an apple pie. It was the best apple pie I have had since leaving the UK almost 30 years ago.
It was very tasty and lasted us 4 days for desserts. We do not eat dessert very often these days as we are both diabetic and keep it under control with diet.
We may have found someone to help us out with the harder manual jobs. An enterprising young man left a note by our mailbox saying he was looking for work during the summer holidays. We contacted him and he came and did 4 hours work. He was very fast and efficient. We asked him if he could do 4 hours a week as that is as far as our budget allows and he said he could. Just remains to see if he comes back this coming week.
I have nearly finished the baby blanket I am hand knitting. My latest great grandson is due on Tuesday so I've got to get it finished pronto!
Hope all is good in your worlds. XXXXX

Houses are selling like crazy around here - so sorry you are having such a tough time. Hope the young man works out.
ReplyDeleteThe pie looks lovely
We are in a rural area which has been wonderful but it's not everyone's choice to be so isolated. It will sell at some point I am sure.
DeleteI do hope that young man comes back - what a find if he does. It should make a huge difference to you.
ReplyDeleteThe apple pie looks just like the ones my Mum used to make and I can pay no higher compliment than that. Did you have it with custard or cream?
xx
We hope he comes back too. I served it with soft ice cream because my husband doesn't like custard, (silliy billy) and I didn't have any cream. It was still delicious. Thank you for the compliment, I am flattered,
DeleteAfter our son died and we had to sell his house we found that decluttering, staging and fixing things worked. We had a realtor who had a photographer take pictures.. loads of pictures.. and then put the pictures up on the realtor's website. Maybe your realtor can post your home on zillow or realtor.com?? The more people who see your home ,the better
ReplyDeleteI know you're enjoying that new great grandson! We love our great granddaughter, Sloane.
ReplyDeleteI love a good apple pie!
